Available Yoga classes are as follows:
- Yoga Gentle – Mondays, 10.25 am – 11.40 am, Severin Hall. Please note that classes will be held only on the following dates for the remainder of this year: 25 November, 2 December and 9 December. No further classes will be held following these dates and Gentle Yoga will unfortunately discontinue after 9 December 2019.
- Tai Chi/Yoga – Tuesdays, 2 – 3 pm, Scott room. Very gentle. This class is now full. Please add your name to the waiting list, if interested.

In a busy life, prioritising time devoted to oneself is precious indeed. In U3A Gentle Yoga we do just this: we focus inwardly, becoming really aware of how we are right now. As we develop our practice, we learn there are many layers of awareness.
We take time out – 1¼ hours – to focus on the breath itself, and its connection with the state of the body, mind and emotions. Developing this skill of awareness also gradually affects our lives outside the yoga room.
Students in the group are varied. Some have already practised yoga or other forms of body/mind disciplines for a long time while others are absolute beginners. It does not matter what previous experience a student has because we create an atmosphere of acceptance. We have some quiet time and some laughter; the work we do can be adapted for everybody.
Yoga is an ancient tradition; the benefits of its practices are now also supported by modern investigations.
In our class we focus on breathing practices; we limber and stretch; we strengthen and balance; we perform simple sequences that are meditative; we relax in stillness at the end of every class … and hopefully we feel lighter, freer and refreshed after our class is over.
